What It's Really Like to Work With a Travel Advisor
Not booking. Judgment, access, and someone answering when something goes wrong.
Booking is the smallest part of this work, and it is the part everyone imagines. Anyone can put a reservation into a system. The value sits on either side of that moment.
Before: knowing that the hotel with the best photographs has a construction site behind it this season. Knowing which room categories are worth paying for. Knowing that the train you have been sold connects with eleven minutes in a station with no elevator.
During: being reachable. When a flight cancels on a Sunday evening, the difference between a ruined week and an inconvenience is whether someone with the booking authority picks up.
Around it: the benefits that come from the networks we belong to. Through Fora and Virtuoso, our clients receive amenities at hotels — breakfast, credits, upgrades where available — that are not offered on public rates.
We are also members of ASTA and CLIA, professional associations governing standards and continuing education for advisors. They benefit you indirectly, through the standard of the advice.
